"Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" is a sermon written by Jonathan Edwards that was preached on July 8, 1741 in Enfield, Connecticut. It sparked a revival known as "The Great Awakening." The sermon text can be downloaded here. Jesus preached on the subject of hell more than any other person mentioned in the Bible. He spoke of hell as a literal place. Hell is not a metaphor - it's a lake of fire! See Matthew 10:28, Matthew 23:33 and Luke 16:22-24. Jesus also said there is only one way to avoid going there. According to Jesus, the only way to avoid hell is to trust in Him to save you from it (John 14:6, John 10:9-10). The path to salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Acts 4:12 states, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." |
